Allen-Stevenson School – Townhouses – New York, NY

Parrett’s long lasting windows & doors were the perfect fit for these "Townhouses" at the Allen Stevenson School on New York's Upper East Side. These two beautiful historic sister facades were meticulously restored recently, while inside lies a modern, state-of-the-art, newly expanded school facility. Since 1883, Allen-Stevenson has maintained its vision for “educating and building boys for the future.”

Stationary double hung windows were manufactured in both rectangular and archtop “variation 6” shapes, and have several unique design considerations. Constructed of mahogany lumber, the choice was made to utilize only FSC Pure lumber sources, ensuring that all harvesting was done in a sustainable and ethical manner. For a smooth finish appearance minimizing the appearance of woodgrain, a custom-specified coating was factory-applied, consisting of (1) primer coat and (3) paint coats.

For enhanced optical clarity, low-iron Starphire glass was used on the dual pane Solarban 72 Low E glass makeup, while an argon gas fill provided optimal thermal performance. A total of four operable french inswing casements were also manufactured by Parrett, featuring solid brass, multipoint-locking handlesets with matching adjustable hinges, providing a smooth and secure locking method that will function effortlessly for years to come. Parrett remains committed to handling each historic replication project with an individualized approach and attention to detail, from initial quoting to delivery.
